So my question is why did it flood downtown? Did a water main break or was there a really bad storm? I am doing a research project for massive flooding in the Quad Cities and the article gave me great answers for how the flood was stopped, but not enough for the cause of the flood.

Cedar Rapids and many Iowans know how great a tribute you deserve. America has followed the past year hoping you would not give up, helping whereever we can. And we know from well published news of your strength that you have no thought of giving up. You all are in our hearts.
We grew up in Illinois and live in California due to health, have served 32 years in the Navy and have started a project to harvest floods before they flood. We'll work with FEMA and USACE and anyone to make it work. Meanwhile when the Cedar Rapids Library gets to where it needs books we want to join in helping you get them. This web site is a great idea so we don't send things you do not need. Your leaders are doing a great job of keeping the media tuned in and priorities high. Keep it Up!

I don't understand why we are not hearing more about helping rebuild Iowa? Looking at the last 3 years you have been just flattened by floods. So why do we not hear about the outcome of the flooding? Why not put a stimulus package of aid together for Iowa? Put unemployed contractors and others to work fixing and rebuilding? This is a opportunity for Iowa to step up and re-build and re-direct their state in a new direction that addresses all the current pressures and issues that all of our communities are facing. Let's re-build and re-green our Heartland!
